一、积累和掌握大量词汇和语法规则
关于这一点，我认为与语文写作的培养有相同之处，俗话说：“巧妇难为无米之炊。”而英语词汇和语法规则就是所谓的“米”，只有掌握了大量的词汇以及相关的语法规则才能让学生在写作过程中游刃有余，大显身手，这就需要教师在教学过程中注重培养学生勤记词汇，勤动手、勤思考的习惯，督促学生在掌握课本词汇及语法的同时，多注意课外知识的积累，以增加词汇量，在写作时才不会搜索枯肠。“观千剑而后识器，操千典而后知音”就是强调积累的重要性。
二、逐层训练，加强句式表达
教师要打破传统守旧模式，即写作指导+例文+点评。采用新的教学方法让学生占主体地位，不能老师口若悬河，学生昏昏欲睡。在高中英语的教学过程中，由于学生基础不同，学生成绩分层明显，这就需要我们从最基础入手。这一环节的写作训练中，我们应从简单句着手。例如，主语+动词(谓语)+宾语的表达，I go toschool.例如这样逐层训练，逐次提升一定的难度，要让每个学生从中体会到英语写作的乐趣与成就感。
三、培养学生归纳课文大意的能力
在高中英语的教学过程中，每一章节课文篇幅都比较长，在让学生掌握课文词汇及语法规则的'同时，应该让学生用自己的话总结课文大意，这相当于是对课文内容的浓缩。我觉得这种方法既能提高学生的理解能力、表达能力，又能提高学生的写作水平，让学生在实践中慢慢揣摩英语写作的奥妙，这对学生写作水平的提高有很大帮助。
四、学生多练笔，在作文批改中成长
通过以上几点的积累，学生已经具备了写作功底，这时要多加练笔。我认为须做到以下几点：
(1)每次英语课后都会留一小作文给学生，文体不限，随意记录身边的人或事，用英语表达出来。
(2)增加阅读量，让学生摘抄一些满分作文、出色语段。让学生模仿写作，久而久之，增加学生对写作的敏感度。其实多练笔也是提高写作能力的根本。
